Contact lenses

Contact lenses

Fittings and follow-up for people who prefer contact lenses to glasses.

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere. That includes your contact lens prescription, which we give you when your fitting is complete. A contact lens exam is separate from a vision therapy evaluation, and we can do both on one visit if you ask.

A fitting includes

  • An exam of the eye's surface and a measurement of its shape

  • Trial lenses to wear before you decide

  • A lesson in putting lenses in, taking them out and cleaning them

  • A follow-up visit to check the fit

A fingertip holds a clear contact lens against a blurred white background.

Billing and what to bring

  • How it is billed

A contact lens fitting is usually billed apart from the eye exam. Some vision plans pay part of it, and some do not. We check before your visit and give you a written estimate if you pay yourself.

    How fees work
  • What to bring

    • Current glasses and contact lenses

    • Vision and medical insurance cards

    • A list of any eye drops or medicines you or your child use

    • Last year's report card or a note from school, if reading is the concern
