Questions

What families and adults ask

If your question is not here, call and we will answer it.

Is vision therapy the same as an eye exam?

No. An eye exam checks eye health and your prescription. Vision therapy is a series of one-on-one training sessions for how the eyes track, focus and work together. It starts with an evaluation that looks at both.

Who is vision therapy for?

People whose eyes tire, lose their place or struggle to work together during reading or screen work. The evaluation tells you whether therapy fits, and what else might.

How long is a session, and how often?

A session is about 45 minutes. Dr. Parrish sets how often you come after the evaluation and changes it as you go.

Can you promise a result?

No. Results vary, and we say so before you start. The plan lists what we will measure so that you can see what has changed.

Do you work with my vision plan?

We work with many vision plans for exams and glasses. Vision therapy sessions are usually not a vision plan benefit. Call to confirm yours, and see How fees work.

Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?

A visit about an eye problem or a follow-up is billed to medical insurance, and a routine exam to a vision plan. When a visit does both, we explain which part goes where.

Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?

Yes. Your prescription is yours, and we give you a copy after your exam and fitting.

What should I bring?

Current glasses and contact lenses, your insurance cards, any recent school or eye reports, and your questions.

What if it is an emergency?

Call us now, or go to the nearest emergency room, for sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Still have a question?

Call the office, or book an evaluation and ask Dr. Parrish in person.
